Design

Newspaper and fashion

The whole site moved onto newspaper stock and fashion-editorial ink — cream and ink neutrals in place of stark white and black — and the design showcase got a pass to feel closer to a real browser window.

designs/art

Truer proportions

Component and design demos now render on a scaled canvas at real desktop ratios instead of an approximated aspect box, so what you see in the catalog matches what you'd get after scaffolding.

Improvements

  • Adopted cream and ink neutrals — newspaper stock in light, fashion-editorial ink in dark — across both themes
  • Rebuilt primitive and header demos on the new scaled design canvas
  • Scaled the component gallery cards to match real desktop proportions
  • Restyled the design showcase row backdrop as a muted panel with a paper texture
  • Fixed mirrored design showcase windows to stay locked at 16:9

Components

Docs are now part of Components

Guides and live component demos now live together under /components, in one sidebar — the written guides and the live demos, instead of two separate sections.

components/ui/motion

Build with motion

One sidebar, two kinds of pages

The "Get started" and "Designs" MDX guides sit above a "Components" group that's built automatically from every live demo — so new components show up in the sidebar the moment they ship, with no manual list to keep in sync.

Search follows you

The docs search trigger now stays pinned in the sticky mobile toolbar as you scroll, so ⌘K / Ctrl+K is always one tap away, not just at the top of the page.

Link

Link joins the design catalog

Link is a minimal personal link-in-bio page with a profile, social links, and a short tagline.

designs/link

Try it live

Link has a live demo and a chrome-free full preview under Designs, and you can scaffold it directly:

npx create-tawny@latest --template link

Improvements

  • Added the Link template to create-tawny, registered in the CLI's template list
  • Added a live design demo and full /view preview for Link
  • Showcased Link in the designs catalog and in Components docs

Platform

Global light/dark theme toggle

A single toggle in the navbar switches the entire marketing site between light and dark, and it remembers your preference across visits.

designs/dev

Independent toggles where it matters

The Dev design demo keeps its own theme switch, restyled as a mono segmented control, so you can preview Dev in either mode without changing the rest of the site.

Improvements

  • Added a global theme toggle to the navbar, restyled as a bordered pill
  • Gave the Dev design demo its own independent theme switch
  • Fixed shell chrome to use semantic tokens correctly in light mode

Components

Generated thumbnails on every card

Every design and component card in the catalog now shows a generated screenshot captured from the live demo, in place of a placeholder.

components/navbar

Sharper at every size

Thumbnails are captured by shrinking the capture viewport rather than cropping afterward, with a slight optical zoom applied so cards read clearly even at small sizes.

Improvements

  • Added a dev-only screenshot generation API route and a GenerateScreenshotButton
  • Captured component thumbnails at card width, without frame chrome
  • Matched the mobile design card ratio to the captured screenshot
